Felixander Solis-Guzman, of Lakeland, was sentenced Thursday afternoon to eight years in prison followed by five years of probation after pleading no contest to three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, in-state delinquent in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during any felony, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, improper exhibition of a firearm, resisting an officer with violence and two counts of tampering with evidence, a news release states.

Solis-Guzman was arrested on March 14, 2024, after pulling a gun and pointing it at another person during a fight on New Smyrna Beach, investigators said.

Volusia County deputies patrolling the area that afternoon ran toward the shouting crowd, locating Solis-Guzman and following him, commanding that he drop the weapon, until he eventually threw the gun and a satchel into the ocean before surrendering, according to the sheriff’s office.
