\n\tNearly four years later, Kumail Nanjiani<\/a>\u2018s MCU<\/a> future doesn\u2019t look bright after the critical and commercial flop that was Eternals<\/a> (2021).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar nominee, who previously underwent a major physical transformation for the part of Kingo, noted that he \u201csigned on for six movies,\u201d thinking the Chlo\u00e9 Zhao<\/a>-helmed movie would lead to more work with Marvel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt came out, it got really bad reviews, and it didn\u2019t do that well. It shattered me too much,\u201d he said on the Working It Out<\/a> podcast. \u201cThat\u2019s when I was like, \u2018Oh, I need to go to therapy to figure this out.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNanjiani continued, \u201cI was like, \u2018This is going to be my job for the next ten years.\u2019 I signed on for six movies. I signed on for a video game. I signed on for a theme park ride. They make you sign on for all this stuff. You\u2019re like, \u2018This is the next ten years of my life. Okay, so I\u2019ll be doing Marvel movies every year, and in between, I\u2019ll do my own little things. Whatever I want to do.\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor me, what really hit me, was just realizing too much of my self esteem was tied up in other people\u2019s reaction to my work,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith a star-studded cast including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden and Brian Tyree Henry, Nanjiana said, \u201cThere were a few too many people in Eternals, if the reviews are to be believed. I loved the movie. I\u2019m very proud of the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEternals made $402M at the global box office, currently holding a 47% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2022, Nanjiani admitted he has \u201cno idea<\/a>\u201d if a sequel is happening, despite reports that a followup was in the works. \u201cI honestly don\u2019t know anything,\u201d he said. \u201cI would love for Kingo to come back. I love playing that character. That one\u2019s very fun to play, you\u2019re just in a good mood. You do finger guns, you\u2019re like a movie star \u2013 what\u2019s not to love?
