Stand-up comedian Marc Maron<\/a> said on Sunday that he \u201calways had a problem\u201d with \u201cReal Time\u201d host\u00a0Bill Maher\u2019s tone\u00a0and believed he has a \u201cdesperate chasing of relevance\u201d issue.<\/p>\n

The \u201cWTF\u201d podcaster sat with \u201cPod Save America<\/a>\u201d co-host Jon Lovett, where he was asked about his opinion on the HBO host among other comics.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t do it,\u201d Maron responded. <\/p>\n

\u201cI always had a problem with his tone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maron said that he had previously appeared on Maher\u2019s \u201cReal Time\u201d show as well as his \u201cPolitically Incorrect\u201d show for ABC a few times in the past. <\/p>\n

Despite his experience with Maher, Maron claimed that he couldn\u2019t escape how \u201cdesperate\u201d he believes Maher has become.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel with Bill that there is this, and it happens with some of the other boomers, there\u2019s this desperate chasing of relevance that, you know, changes someone\u2019s mind in terms of how they approach what they do and also kind of makes the whole undertaking feel desperate,\u201d Maron said.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cOutside of his ideas about primarily, I think wokeness, I don\u2019t know, it\u2019s just not for me. I know his joke writers. He\u2019s got good joke writers who know how to write for his tone, and I\u2019ve known a couple of those guys. They were comics, and they\u2019re good guys, but I can\u2019t see past, you know, the desperation in what he\u2019s willing to do to stay in the conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital\u00a0reached out to Maher\u2019s publicist for comment.<\/p>\n

While long aligned with liberal policies, Maher has in recent years drawn greater attention for his sharp critiques of\u00a0Democrats and so-called \u2018woke\u2019 politics.<\/p>\n

In his most recent show on Friday, Maher called out the Democratic Party for allowing President Donald\u00a0Trump to pick off their voters\u00a0in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Democrats offer up high-minded intangibles like equity and saving the soul of America, Trump says, \u2018Hey waitress, how would you like to pay no tax on those tips?\u2019 Remember that? And everybody was like, \u2018Why didn\u2019t we think of that?’\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n

Maron, also a liberal, told\u00a0Newsweek<\/a>\u00a0last week that while he believed everything, including progressives, was \u201cfair game,\u201d he did not consider himself \u201canti-woke\u201d like Maher.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem with the left is all the infighting and everybody\u2019s arguing about what should be platforms, what\u2019s more important? And I dealt with that years ago at Air America and stuff. I wasn\u2019t going to \u2018Bill Maher\u2019 it and accuse them. I do in a lighthearted way, but I am not an anti-woke person. But I do think there is some fun poking to be had at people that are overly committed to very small things and that\u2019s what justifies their political existence.
