\n\tMarc Maron<\/a> recently appeared on \u201cPod Save America\u201d<\/a> (via Vulture<\/a>) and doubled down on his criticisms of Bill Maher<\/a>. While the \u201cWTF\u201d host acknowledged that he joined Maher on HBO\u2019s \u201cReal Time\u201d three times in the past, he has since turned on Maher in recent years. Maron already called Maher out <\/a>earlier this summer for being partial to \u201csome of the things\u201d\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0is doing in his second administration as U.S. president.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can\u2019t do it,\u201d Maron now said when \u201cPod Save America\u201d host\u00a0Jon Lovett\u00a0asked him about Maher. \u201cI always had a problem with his tone, and it happens with some of the other boomers, there\u2019s this desperate chasing of relevance that changes someone\u2019s mind in terms of how they approach what they do and also kind of makes the whole undertaking feel desperate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaron added, \u201cHe\u2019s got good joke writers who know how to write for his tone, but I can\u2019t see past the desperation and what he\u2019s willing to do to stay in the conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn early May, Maron\u00a0called out Maher\u00a0on an episode of the\u00a0\u201cWTF\u201d podcast<\/a> that featured CNN host W. Kamau Bell as a guest. Maron said: \u201cAre you going to be like Bill Maher, you know, \u2018I\u2019m going to agree with some of the things that Trump is doing.\u2019 It\u2019s like, dude, you\u2019re a bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaron has been critical of podcasters supporting Trump. Before last year\u2019s election, Trump appeared on Joe Rogan\u2019s popular Spotify podcast. Shortly after, Maron posted a blog post<\/a> in which he called out \u201ccomedians with podcasts\u201d who \u201cjoke around\u201d with \u201cshameless, self-proclaimed white supremacists and fascists on their show,\u201d saying, \u201call it does is humanize and normalize fascism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his \u201cPod Save America\u201d interview, Maron also took aim at Netflix (via The Daily Beast<\/a>) by saying: \u201cFascism is good for business. Netflix will just, you know, co-opt anybody that can take that algorithm. I used to do a joke about it\u2014Netflix can become \u2018Reichflix\u2019 very quickly.\u201c<\/p>\n

\n\tMaron cited the streamer\u2019s decision to continue working with Dave Chappelle despite the comedian\u2019s history of anti-trans jokes as the \u201cpivotal moment,\u201d explaining: \u201cWhen they had pushback from the trans community about Chappelle, they realized after several days that that community was not going to affect their bottom line at all. And they cut \u2018em loose. That is how fascism works in business.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen podcast host Lovett noted that Netflix is home to a wide array of LGBTQ+ content despite working with Chappelle, Maron answered: \u201cBut ultimately, who\u2019s getting the big deals? Which shows stay on the air? You know, what do they keep repeating? That\u2019s them saying, \u2018We got this other stuff and we know there\u2019s a few of you, but we\u2019re throwing you a bone. So, shut up.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
