\n\tNetflix<\/a> has won out in a bidding war for a new series starring Matthew McConaughey<\/a> and Cole Hauser<\/a> that hails from creator Nic Pizzolatto<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tVariety has confirmed that the project is currently in development at Netflix, though final deals for the two leads are still being ironed out. Plot details are scarce, aside from the fact that McConaughey and Hauser would play brothers. Skydance Sports will produce. <\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix declined to comment. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series marks another reunion for McConaughey and Pizzolatto, following their highly successful collaboration on the first season of \u201cTrue Detective\u201d at HBO. The pair were also meant to re-team on the FX project \u201cRedeemer,\u201d though that series ultimately did not move forward<\/a>. Most recently, it was reported that McConaughey would star in a movie based on Mickey Spillane\u2019s and Max Allan Collins\u2019 \u201cMike Hammer\u201d books with a script by Pizzolatto<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tIt is also the latest \u201cTrue Detective\u201d reunion in TV for McConaughey, who is set to star alongside his Season 1 co-star Woody Harrelson in the Apple TV+ comedy \u201cBrothers.\u201d That show is inspired by the pair\u2019s real friendship and recently completed filming. <\/p>\n

\n\tHauser is best known for playing Rip Wheeler in the hit Paramount series \u201cYellowstone.\u201d Hauser and his co-star, Kelly Reilly, are set to star in a spinoff series that recently added Oscar nominee Annette Bening to its cast.<\/a> <\/p>\n

\n\tPizzolatto is best known for \u201cTrue Detective,\u201d though he is also an award-winning novelist. His books are translated in over 30 languages, and he is a multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, with two Writer\u2019s Guild Awards. Recent work includes his first film as writer-director, \u201cEasy\u2019s Waltz,\u201d which is due to premiere at TIFF in September. <\/p>\n
