T\u00e9a Leoni<\/a> tea alert: The Madam Secretary<\/a> star has wed her former screen husband, Tim Daly<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Leoni, 59, and Daly, 69, were married Saturday in a small, private ceremony in New York City, Leoni’s publicist confirms to Entertainment Weekly. The couple first met on the set of the CBS political drama Madam Secretary, in which Leoni played Elizabeth McCord, the titular U.S. secretary of state and later president, and Daly played her spouse, Henry McCord.<\/p>\n

They both remained on the series throughout its six-season run, from 2014 to 2019, and began dating months after the series aired its pilot.<\/p>\n

Leoni and Daly are both veterans of the big and small screens, with dozens of notable credits between them, from Leoni’s memorable roles in films like Deep Impact and Spanglish to Daly’s Emmy-nominated turn on The Sopranos<\/a> and principal part on Private Practice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Their offscreen romance was confirmed<\/a> in December 2014, months after Leoni’s divorce<\/a> from The X-Files star David Duchovny<\/a> had been finalized following 17 years of marriage. Daly was previously married to the actress Amy Van Nostrand, raising two children over the course of a 28-year relationship. Both of Daly’s children wound up with parts on Madam Secretary, with Sam Daly playing the ex-fianc\u00e9 of Leoni’s character’s press secretary and Emelyn Daly playing the niece of her father’s character.<\/p>\n

Leoni and Daly now join the esteemed company of stars who married their onscreen partners and love interests, like Ryan Reynolds<\/a> and Blake Lively<\/a>, who starred as lovers in 2010’s Green Lantern<\/a>; Mila Kunis<\/a> and Ashton Kutcher<\/a>, who married nearly two decades after they first played a couple on That ’70s Show<\/a>; and the ultimate, Ben Affleck<\/a> and Jennifer Lopez<\/a>, whose romance is enshrined in the eternal Gigli.<\/p>\n

As Madam Secretary was winding to a close in 2019, series creator Barbara Hall reflected on her role in bringing Leoni and Daly together<\/a>, marveling, “They are the most perfect couple, and it really is a wonderful thing to have been part of. I don’t know if I take credit for it, though!”<\/p>\n
