{"id":112585,"date":"2025-08-27T01:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T01:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/112585\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T01:10:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T01:10:08","slug":"united-states-south-korea-japan-address-north-korean-it-threats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/112585\/","title":{"rendered":"United States, South Korea, Japan address North Korean IT threats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Aug. 26 (UPI) &#8212; The United States, Japan and South Korea teamed with U.S. cybersecurity firm Mandiant to oppose North Korean Internet technology worker schemes on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officials for the three nations joined with representatives of more than 130 tech firms for a conference in Tokyo to discuss threats from a North Korean <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/World-News\/2025\/06\/30\/DOJ-FBI-uncovers-remote-worker-school-North-Korea-indictments\/1831751322064\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:IT worker services scheme;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">IT worker services scheme<\/a> aimed at stealing valuable information and cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;North Korean state-directed IT workers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/US\/2025\/07\/08\/north-korean-hacker-sanctioned\/8041752015824\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:generate revenue;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">generate revenue<\/a> for North Korea&#8217;s weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs,&#8221; a Department of State spokesperson said in a news release on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The IT workers scheme violates U.S. sanctions and many U.N.
