Three members of the Philadelphia metalcore band (guitarist David Updike, guitarist John DiStefano and drummer Luis Aponte) posted on the band\u2019s Instagram that Jesus Piece \u201chas been dead for some time\u201d because \u201ca member quit abruptly for personal reasons and we felt wrong continuing without him.\u201d The statement goes on to say that \u201canything you see associated with this name or similar, playing our music and using our art, is not related to anything we worked for over the last 10 years\u201d and that \u201cto try and continue that without us or in spite of us, is a mockery of what we\u2019ve done and tried to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vocalist Aaron Heard isn\u2019t mentioned by name in the statement, and the statement comes as Aaron shared an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stories\/aaronheard_\/3707924291491135028\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram story<\/a> of the flyer for Phoenix festival <a href=\"https:\/\/onebigpartyfest.com\/pages\/home-one-big-party-fest\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">One Big Party<\/a> that includes an artist billed as \u201cJe$us Piece\u201d\u2013Aaron wrote, \u201cThat\u2019s me and the homies.\u201d In a since-deleted Instagram story from the Jesus Piece band account that you can see a screenshot of on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Hardcore\/comments\/1n06mhi\/rip_jesus_piece\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">r\/Hardcore Reddit<\/a>, the other members wrote, \u201cWe never accepted this fest. No idea who Je$us piece is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This story is probably still developing.
