Applied Computing, a British tech firm developing AI models for the energy industry, has appointed a long-serving executive at oil and gas giant Shell as its president.<\/p>\n
Dan Jeavons, a veteran of the energy sector, spent almost 20 years at Shell, most recently serving as its VP of computational science and digital innovation and IT CTO, a role in which he led the firm\u2019s AI programme.<\/p>\n
Before joining Shell, Jeavons spent a few years as a consultant at Accenture.<\/p>\n
After a brief career break this year, Jeavons has joined Applied Computing as its president, where he will support the growth of its flagship product, Orbital, an AI platform providing optimisation services to refineries and petrochemical sites.<\/p>\n
\u201cOrbital is by far the most advanced AI model I\u2019ve seen for industrial environments,\u201d said Jeavons.<\/p>\n

The appointment follows the company securing a \u00a39m seed investment<\/a> led by Stride.VC. The group is aiming for a Series A round in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n \t\t\t
