The 2025 Players Era men’s and women’s championship matchups have been announced. <\/p>\n
This year’s event will feature 18 men’s teams and four women’s teams competing in a tournament showcase for four days from Nov. 24-27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n
All games will be broadcast on TNT, truTV and HBO Max. <\/p>\n
In a statement from Players Era CEO Seth Berger, the 2025 Players Era Championship has been dubbed “November Mania” and will establish a new tentpole event for college basketball in the vein of March Madness:<\/p>\n
“With November Mania, we are creating a new American tentpole sporting event that will bring the madness to November, serving college basketball fanatics and reaching more casual fans, growing the game by expanding college basketball\u2019s imprint on the national stage before the start of conference play. We’re bringing together the deepest fields and staging the most challenging matchups, so that taking the Players Era Championship title means winning the first truly major event of the college basketball season.”<\/p>\n
Among the 18 teams competing for the men’s championship, 15 are featured in the too-early rankings for the 2025-26 season. The field is led by 2024-25 national finalist Houston, along with powerhouse programs Kansas, Alabama, Auburn, Gonzaga and Tennessee. <\/p>\n
The four-team women’s tournament includes South Carolina, UCLA, Texas and Duke. <\/p>\n
Teams that go 2-0 in the first two days of the men’s event will automatically qualify for the Players Era Championship and Third-Place game matchups, followed by teams that go 1-1. Any potential tiebreakers will be determined by point differential, points scored and points allowed. <\/p>\n
The 2024 season marked the first year of the Players Era Festival, with just eight men’s teams comprising the whole field. The event guaranteed every participating school at least $1 million to be used toward their NIL fund. <\/p>\n
Oregon defeated Alabama, 83-81, in the inaugural championship game thanks to Nate Bittle’s putback dunk with 4.4 seconds remaining. <\/p>\n
