{"id":113933,"date":"2025-08-27T14:33:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T14:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/113933\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T14:33:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T14:33:09","slug":"denis-shapovalov-names-his-favorite-player-on-the-wta-tour-and-says-hed-like-to-play-doubles-with-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/113933\/","title":{"rendered":"Denis Shapovalov names his favorite player on the WTA Tour and says he&#8217;d like to play doubles with her"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Denis Shapovalov is one of several Canadian players who have made waves in tennis over the last decade.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 18, the former top 10 player announced himself on the world stage by defeating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/rafael-nadal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafael Nada<\/a>l in front of his home fans at the 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/canadian-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/bianca-andreescu-shares-the-story-of-what-it-was-really-like-to-face-serena-williams-at-the-us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bianca Andreescu stunned Serena Williams to win the US Open<\/a> in 2019, while Felix Auger-Aliassime is a former top 10 player with seven titles to his name.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, the tennis world was introduced to another Canadian player who has the potential to be a tennis superstar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/victoria-mboko\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victoria Mboko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2232013037-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Victoria Mboko hits a forehand at the 2025 US Open - Day 2\" \/>Photo by Sarah Stier\/Getty ImagesDenis Shapovalov wants to play doubles with Victoria Mboko<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/denis-shapovalov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denis Shapovalov<\/a> took to Reddit to answer questions from fans.<\/p>\n<p>Based on his responses, the 26-year-old is a big fan of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/victoria-mboko-has-done-something-only-serena-williams-can-match-after-winning-the-canadian-open-title\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mboko, who won the Canadian Open title<\/a> prior to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, Shapovalov said he would like to win the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> title if he could win one Grand Slam, before answering who his favourite player is on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He was also asked who he would like to play mixed doubles with, and both answers were the same, the WTA\u2019s world number 23, Mboko.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227711449-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Denis Shapovalov hits a slice backhand at the ATP Masters 1000 National Bank Open presented by Rogers -
