The Greek even decided to sign up for another tournament a week before the US Open<\/a>, but Tsitsipas\u2019 decision backfired on him<\/a>.<\/p>\n Despite all the negativity currently surrounding his career, Tsitsipas<\/a> has begun his US Open campaign with a victory.<\/p>\n The US Open has statistically been Tsitsipas\u2019 worst-performing Grand Slam tournament, even when he was a top 10 player.<\/p>\n Since his main draw debut appearance in 2018, Tsitsipas has been unable to surpass the third round and was handed a potentially challenging first round draw against world number 38 Alexandre Muller.<\/p>\n These concerns looked to be becoming reality for Tsitsipas after he lost the first set, but the 27-year-old managed to fight back and beat Muller, 4-6 6-0 6-1 7-6(5).<\/p>\n This is Tsitsipas\u2019 first Grand Slam win since Roland Garros<\/a>, and he spoke in his post-match press conference about what this could do for him going forward.<\/p>\n \u201cIt puts me back in a good place,\u201d said Tsitsipas. \u201cIt revitalises my game to have that win, it definitely adds vitality and helps me feel alive again back on the tennis court. That is what it brings me,\u201d answered Tsitsipas. \u201cI feel like it\u2019s something I need in my life and my career.
