\n\t\t\t\t\t\tFirefighters were on the scene after flames broke out inside a home and a daycare center in Derry Township, Westmoreland County on Wednesday. See the video from Sky 4 belowEveryone who was in the daycare, including 10 children, got out safely, neighbors told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.\u201cWe got a call about a house fire with possible people trapped,\u201d Derry Township Deputy Fire Chief Nick Piantine said. \u201cWe pulled in and the original house was on fire. Also, three additional buildings were on fire. All the children were evacuated prior to us getting here.\u201dDerry Township fire crews were assisted by units from Greensburg, Latrobe, Unity Township, and Black Lick from Indiana County. The State Fire Marshal was on the scene as well.\u201cWe actually called a lot more than we usually do due to everything that was going on and how many buildings were on fire,\u201d Piantine said. \u201cThe biggest thing was keeping the fire to the original building that’s connected to other buildings. It just took a long time to hold it.\u201dEmergency dispatchers said the fire was reported shortly after 10:50 a.m. Piantine confirmed that the fire began on a small porch attached to a home. Dornie and Lori’s Home Day Care center was right behind that house. Rhiannon Radacosky grew up going to Dornie and Lori’s. \u201cI went there when I was a kid, and I’m 32,\u201d she said. \u201cThat’s why we sent my son there. We trusted them when I was little. My parents did.\u201dHer son, Sawyer, was inside the center when the fire erupted. \u201cI was actually at work, and I’m a fireman with Brady Mills, so I got the fire call right on my phone,\u201d Radacosky said. \u201cOne of the other firefighters in our department texted me and said ‘Please tell me that’s not your son’s daycare.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, it actually is’. I ran out the door and drove from Ligonier to here and ran up and got my child and here we are. They were across the street at the owner’s house.\u201d Radacosky is not only grateful for the center’s staff, but also for the response from first responders. \u201cI am very grateful for the volunteers,\u201d she said. \u201cUnity Township has them paid during the day.
