Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) offices will be closed for Labor Day, but workers still can access online resources to file jobless claims, certify work searches, or find answers to questions about unemployment.<\/p>\n
Workers can file claims online — following the steps in the UIA Claimant Roadmap<\/a> — or certify their job searches using the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) over the holiday weekend. MiWAM is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week; log in at Michigan.gov\/UIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n Applying and certifying online is the quickest and most efficient way to file for benefits.<\/p>\n On Labor Day, claimants will not be able to certify their work searches by calling the Michigan Automated Voice Interactive Network (MARVIN). MARVIN will be available again from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. after the holiday. Claimants must report their job status and whether they meet work eligibility requirements every two weeks in order to collect jobless benefits.<\/p>\n UIA\u2019s new artificial intelligence-powered chatbot will be available 24 hours a day during the holiday weekend at Michigan.gov\/UIA<\/a>. Workers and employers can access the chatbot using either a desktop or mobile device for quick and accurate responses to questions.<\/p>\n Be aware that due to the holiday, there may be a slight delay next week in unemployment benefits being deposited into bank accounts or added to U.S. Bank debit cards.<\/p>\n UIA\u2019s 12 Local Offices; MiWAM chat; in-person, phone and virtual appointments; and Customer Service hotline at 1-866-500-0017 will be available again after the holiday.<\/p>\n Workers can access these online resources at any time:<\/p>\n The UIA Claimant Roadmap, a six-step, user-friendly guide to applying for and understanding benefits.
