CNN was interrupted for urgent breaking news in an unfolding story, as Donald Trump<\/a> received his most significant setback yet in his second term as president.<\/a><\/p>\n

As Trump pledges to clamp down on crime in cities like Washington D.C., Philadelphia’s district attorney, Larry Krasner, has targeted the global leader, alleging he “wants to start a coup”.<\/p>\n

On the CNN<\/a> program Early Start, Krasner engaged in a revealing conversation with host MJ Lee, stating, “We’re talking about a man who has been convicted of 34 felonies.<\/a><\/p>\n

“We’re talking about someone who lies all the time, and one of those lies is that these big cities are not doing well with public safety.<\/p>\n

“In fact, as of this morning, Philly is at a 50-plus-year low, and homicides were down in 14 out of 18 categories and subcategories of crime,” he declared.<\/p>\n

“This is just a lie. It’s a lie in DC, it’s a lie in LA, it’s a lie in Chicago, it’s a lie in Philly and it’s a lie by a criminal who pardons criminals. You know, insurrectionists, people who are basically engaging in treason against the United States.<\/p>\n

“Simply put, the only crisis here is Donald Trump<\/a> and that’s because he wants a crisis, he wants a crisis so he can roll tanks in big cities and make it look normal, and he wants that because he intends to try to carry out a coup,” Krasner concluded.<\/p>\n

In May 2024, Trump was convicted by a New York<\/a> jury on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.<\/p>\n

However, in January 2025, he received an “unconditional discharge”, meaning he avoided any penalty for his actions.<\/p>\n

Despite this, he became the first US president to assume office with a felony conviction.<\/p>\n

Trump maintained his innocence, describing his experience with the judicial system as “a very terrible experience”.<\/p>\n
