HOUSTON \u2013 Klein Cain High School has confirmed two cases of tuberculosis in a letter sent to the entire school community.<\/p>\n
Two siblings, who are students at Klein Cain High School, were diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB) following testing.<\/p>\n
District officials said the students who were diagnosed with active tuberculosis are receiving medical care, are not on campus, and will not return until cleared by a physician or Harris County Public Health (HCPH), in accordance with state health regulations.<\/p>\n
Parents of students who shared a class with the affected students have been notified due to potential exposure.<\/p>\n
Officials emphasized that tuberculosis is not transmitted through casual contact, such as walking past someone in a hallway, and typically requires prolonged, close contact in an enclosed setting to be transmitted.<\/p>\n
HCPH officials are conducting contact tracing to identify and notify anyone who may have had prolonged close contact with one of the students.<\/p>\n
Due to privacy laws, the district said it could not disclose any information that could potentially identify the students.<\/p>\n
