ATHENS, Ga. \u2014 University of Georgia officials have issued an all clear after reports of an armed shooter on Friday night were determined to be a hoax.<\/p>\n

Officials say the UGA Police Department Communications Center received a call about a shooter at 8:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

Channel 2\u2019s Courtney Francisco was in Athens during WSB Tonight.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to the Main Library where the caller reported the shooter was located and searched the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cA preliminary investigation suggests the event was a hoax, but officers remain in the vicinity to investigate and collect information. Please stay away from the area,\u201d the university said.<\/p>\n
