The reference device was a Hypnodyne ZMax, which records brain waves via EEG and is said to record sleep phases with 72% accuracy, according to studies. For comparison, the polysomnography (PSG) used in sleep labs has an accuracy of around 83%. In comparison to the ZMax, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 showed an accuracy of about 73% for REM and deep sleep and a pretty impressive 86.5% for light sleep.<\/p>\n
Compared to the competition, this result is excellent and even slightly surpasses the Oura Gen 4 Smart Ring. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Whoop 4.0 and Garmin Fenix 7 are notably less accurate in this respect. However, it should be noted that this test and comparison only involved one unit of each wearable and a single person. Due to the small sample size, the results are only moderately conclusive of the overall performance and precision of said devices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"In addition to the heart rate sensor, Rob ter Horst also tested the sleep tracking of the Apple…\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":122019,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[42],"tags":[78240,904,166,905,78242,898,903,897,906,78243,665,899,900,78241,171,74,902,901,28857],"class_list":["post-122018","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-gadgets","tag-apple-watch-ultra-2","tag-benchmarks","tag-gadgets","tag-graphics-card","tag-herzfrequenz","tag-laptop","tag-netbook","tag-notebook","tag-processor","tag-puls","tag-reports","tag-review","tag-reviews","tag-sensoren","tag-smartwatch","tag-technology","tag-test","tag-tests","tag-watchos-26"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/122018","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=122018"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/122018\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/122019"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=122018"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=122018"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=122018"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
