Former NHL enforcer Nick Tarnasky has shared his side of the wild golf course fight <\/a>that blew up in social media videos last week.<\/p>\n

On the \u201cSpittin\u2019 Chiclets\u201d podcast, Tarnasky said the fight erupted on Hole 15<\/a> of the Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada on July 4, with an inebriated man taking 20-25 minutes to play each hole and challenging course-goers to fights.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, I asked him not to, told him he shouldn\u2019t get involved with me, I asked him to move on, I gave him every opportunity not to, and he charged at me,\u201d Tarnasky said. \u201cI\u2019m not going to fold over, that\u2019s not my nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The fight did not end well for the drunk golfer, since identified as a man named Trevor Ogilvie<\/a>, who ended up getting tossed in a pond and badly beaten up by Tarnasky.<\/p>\n

Tarnasky, who is 6-foot-2, 230 pounds and played five seasons in the NHL, said the altercation took place after Ogilvie was threatening to fight just about everyone in his path, including Tarnasky\u2019s friend and friend\u2019s fiancee.<\/p>\n

With Ogilvie and his friend holding up Hole 15, Tarnasky said he rolled up and said, \u201cHey guys, we gotta get moving.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat instantly set him off,\u201d Tarnasky recalled. \u201cHe\u2019s doing the fist-clenching and the pumping his arms, and that\u2019s where the altercation starts that\u2019s on the video.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tarnasky said he was trying to \u201cmake it fun\u201d and not escalate the situation by threatening Ogilvie, but he couldn\u2019t help but warn that he would toss Ogilvie into the nearby pond.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I hear I\u2019m going to get thrown in the pond by this f\u2014ing mutant, maybe I\u2019m going to chill out,\u201d Tarnasky said. \u201cI thought maybe that could be a fun way to be like, \u2018You guys are in the wrong, let\u2019s speed things up.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Ogilvie, who later admitted that the incident was \u201cnot his finest moment\u201d and that his \u201cmouth ran faster than is brain,\u201d did not take the hint, and ended up getting bodyslammed into the pond by Tarnasky, who accumulated 297 total penalty minutes in the NHL.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the portion of the incident that can be seen in the viral video, Tarnasky said he told Ogilvie and his friend to \u201cget the f\u2014 outta here,\u201d which they eventually did.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The police eventually showed up to the course, with Tarnasky openly explaining what he did and why he did it.<\/p>\n

Tarnasky called the aftermath of the crazy scene \u201cpretty tough\u201d and \u201cpretty overwhelming,\u201d even if he\u2019s being heralded as the hero of the situation.<\/p>\n
