\n\tStevie Wonder<\/a> took some time on stage during his \u201cLove, Light and Song\u201d U.K. tour stop in Cardiff, Wales to address the uncontrollable rumor that he is not actually blind. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn footage<\/a> captured by concert-goers on July 9, Wonder is heard speaking in a light-hearted tone. He addresses the crowd directly, stating, \u201cI must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, \u2018When did I want to let the world know this?\u2019 But I wanted to say it right now.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter explaining there were \u201crumors about me seeing and all that\u201d (earning scattered laughs from the crowd), he emphasized, \u201cbut seriously, you know the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd for those looking for a more direct answer, Wonder delivered: \u201cTruth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind. Now, that was a blessing because it\u2019s allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ongoing rumor that Wonder can actually see has been repeated for decades by other celebrities. Lionel Richie joked in a 2019 interview on \u201cThe Kelly Clarkson Show\u201d that he was convinced Wonder could see; \u201cI\u2019ve been spending my whole life with him thinking he can see. I know he can see,\u201d he said. \u201cI went to his house. He says, \u2018Wanna hear a new song? I\u2019ve got it in the car. C\u2019mon, go with me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRichie says Wonder sat in the driver\u2019s side and started unexpectedly driving back down the driveway \u2014 \u201cAnd I screamed, \u2018Stevie! What are you doing?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Ah, got you, didn\u2019t I?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWonder has always upheld a strong sense of humor in regards to these rumors, making his poignant speech in Wales all the more intriguing. <\/p>\n
