Lil Nas X\u2019s father, Robert Stafford, shared details of his son\u2019s dramatic \u201cbreakdown\u201d and arrest <\/a>in emotional new comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to visit him in jail, and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn\u2019t do anything but cry,\u201d Stafford\u00a0told the Sunday Times<\/a> in an interview published Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Stafford recalled telling his son, 26, that \u201c\u2018what you\u2019re going through is normal. We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours played out in the public eye.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He also recalled the rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, expressing remorse for the incident, which took place in Los Angeles<\/a> in the wee hours of Aug. 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I went to visit he asked me to say, \u2018tell everybody I\u2019m sorry they saw me like that,’\u201d he continued. \u201cEven in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grammy-winning artist was hospitalized and arrested last Thursday after being seen singing in next to nothing in Los Angeles. TMZ \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n

A rep for the rapper did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

The Atlanta born hitmaker was caught on camera dancing and singing down Ventura Boulevard last Thursday in footage initially obtained by TMZ.<\/p>\n

In one bystander clip, the Grammy Award winner was seen wearing nothing but white underwear and white cowboy boots. Hill reportedly told a fan he was on his way to a party before placing a traffic cone on his head.<\/p>\n

In another, he stripped down to nothing<\/a> while singing Nicki Minaj\u2019s lyrics from Kanye West\u2019s 2010 hit \u201cMonster.\u201d<\/p>\n

After he allegedly \u201ccharged\u201d at law enforcement attempting to detain him, he was charged with misdemeanor battery on a police officer and jailed. AP<\/p>\n

A public information officer told Page Six at the time that witnesses notified the Los Angeles Police Department of the sighting. Law enforcement arrived at the scene around 5:50 a.m local time \u2014 after which, they alleged, the rapper \u201ccharged\u201d at the officers as they attempted to detain him.<\/p>\n

He was subsequently \u201ctaken into custody\u201d and \u201ctransported to a local hospital for a possible overdose.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source\u00a0told NBC News\u00a0that the \u201cIndustry Baby\u201d artist punched an officer twice in the face<\/a>\u00a0during the encounter, leading to an arrest for misdemeanor battery on a police officer.<\/p>\n

Hill \u2014 who was seen earlier that day wandering the grounds of a Los Angeles hotel<\/a> shirtless \u2014 was reportedly charged with four felonies<\/a>, including resisting an executive officer and battery with injury on a police officer following the San Fernando Valley incident, according to The Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The star pleaded not guilty to the charges, subsequently posting $75,000 bail after\u00a0spending a weekend in jail.<\/a> He was released on Monday after a Los Angeles judge ordered him to attend rehab meetings.<\/p>\n

The rapper agreed to the terms.<\/p>\n

The bemused \u201cOld Town\u201d musician later took to social media to call the ordeal \u201cf\u2013king terrifying.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
