{"id":123543,"date":"2025-08-31T21:55:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-31T21:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/123543\/"},"modified":"2025-08-31T21:55:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T21:55:09","slug":"walmart-embraces-ai-agents-to-optimize-consumer-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/123543\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart Embraces AI Agents to Optimize Consumer Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Retailers are increasingly employing artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize their customers\u2019 shopping experience.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a trend CNBC explored in a <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/30\/walmart-stores-ai-innovation-retail-shopping-shift.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">report<\/a> Saturday, focusing on Walmart\u2019s effort to use AI \u201csuper agents,\u201d such as its \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/retail\/2025\/walmart-turns-to-super-agents-to-automate-pretty-much-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Marty\u201d AI assistant<\/a>,\u00a0to save time for both consumers and employees.<\/p>\n<p>The report also noted that this is happening against the backdrop of a wider shift in retail, with Amazon seeing generative AI use skyrocket by 3,300% during this year\u2019s <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/ecommerce\/2025\/adobe-says-retailers-ai-driven-traffic-will-leap-3200-during-prime-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Prime Day event<\/a>. And Google Cloud AI, the report added, has teamed with body care retailer Lush to visually identify projects without packaging, thus cutting down on the expense of training new employees.<\/p>\n<p>Walmart is also invested in physical and spatial AI, CNBC said, pointing to the company\u2019s use of <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/retail\/2025\/how-amazon-and-walmart-are-rewiring-retails-future-with-robotics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">digital twins<\/a> (a virtual copy of any physical object or space) in its stores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt its core, retail is a physical business,\u201d said <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alexandre-de-vigan-26388015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alex de Vigan<\/a>, CEO and founder of Nfinite, which provides large-scale visual data for training spatial and physical AI models.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen retailers use digital twins to reduce setup time for new promotions, reallocate labor more efficiently, and improve robotic picking accuracy, small gains that add up quickly when margins are under stress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This is happening at a time when Walmart is <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/retail\/2025\/amazon-walmart-lean-into-platform-plays-navigate-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reconfiguring its physical and digital assets<\/a> to entice third-party sellers, as PYMNTS wrote last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLong cautious about <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/walmart\/2025\/walmart-rolls-out-faster-deliveries-for-3rd-party-sellers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">opening its shelves<\/a> to outside vendors, Walmart is now experimenting with ways to showcase marketplace sellers directly in stores, piloting physical displays that feature products from its online marketplace partners, blending the digital long tail with the tactile credibility of Walmart\u2019s aisles,\u201d that report said.<\/p>\n<p>Walmart is also forming novel financial collaborations, such as the one it <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/bnpl\/2025\/walmart-becomes-klarnas-biggest-retail-partner-in-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">recently announced in<\/a> Canada with <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.klarna.com\/us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Klarna<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a move that highlights Walmart\u2019s pragmatic streak, PYMNTS wrote, as the company focuses on \u201cremoving friction for sellers and buyers in immediate, tangible ways.\u201d Speedier delivery, more payment flexibility and in-store visibility all underscore Walmart\u2019s pitch to help merchants reach millions of shoppers on- and offline.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Walmart is positioning itself as a platform and not just a retailer. Amazon achieved its marketplace dominance by aggregating third-party sellers and monetizing them via fees, fulfillment services and advertising.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWalmart, late to the game, now sees marketplace expansion as the fastest path to digital scale,\u201d PYMNTS wrote. \u201cBy using its 4,600 stores as fulfillment nodes and marketing channels, Walmart can offer a hybrid model where <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/retail\/2025\/amazon-walmart-lean-into-platform-plays-navigate-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">third-party sellers<\/a> benefit from eCommerce reach and brick-and-mortar presence.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Retailers are increasingly employing artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize their customers\u2019 shopping experience.
