\n\tFollowing his National Guard takeover<\/a> of Washington, D.C., Donald Trump<\/a> has declared the capital \u201ccrime free.\u201d In a new post<\/a> on Truth Social, Trump praised Mayor Muriel Bowser for working with him to \u201celiminate\u201d violent crime.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHer statements and actions were positive, instead of others like Pritzker, Wes Moore, Newscum, and the 5% approval rated Mayor of Chicago, who spend all of their time trying to justify violent Crime, instead of working with us to completely ELIMINATE it, which we have done in Washington, D.C., NOW A CRIME FREE ZONE,\u201d Trump wrote on Monday. \u201cWouldn\u2019t it be nice to say that about Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and even the Crime Drenched City of Baltimore???\u201d He added, \u201cD.C. is a GIANT VICTORY that never has to end!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to available crime statistics<\/a> from D.C.\u2019s Metropolitan Police Department, there were 442 crimes reported in the district in the past seven days. These include 50 reports of violent crime: one homicide, 23 instances of assault with a dangerous weapon, 24 robberies, and two cases of sex abuse. There were also nearly 250 thefts reported over the past week.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump began his so-called crime crackdown in D.C. on Aug. 11. As part of the effort, his administration took over<\/a> the city\u2019s police department and sent in National Guard<\/a> troops, FBI, and ICE agents into the streets. Trump said the action was necessary \u201cto rescue our nation\u2019s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAttorney General Pam Bondi<\/a> has been celebrating<\/a> the daily impact on X, sharing her own arrest numbers. Today she wrote, \u201cOn this Labor Day, we honor the men and women in law enforcement who work tirelessly day and night to keep our communities safe. In Washington, DC, 71 additional arrests have been made \u2014 including another Tren de Aragua gang member \u2014 and 9 more illegal firearms are off the street.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough hundreds of crimes have been reported in D.C. in the past week, as recently as January, the Department of Justice was\u00a0touting<\/a>\u00a0the fact that violent crime in Washington, D.C., \u201cis the lowest it has been in over 30 years.\u201d Trump, however, has said he plans to follow suit with a federal takeover of law enforcement in other major U.S. cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Baltimore, and Oakland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe have other cities also that are bad,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to let it happen. We\u2019re not going to lose our cities over this. And this will go further.
