A SUSPECT IS NOW IN CUSTODY AFTER FIVE FIRES BROKE OUT IN WAYNESBURG. THIS WEEKEND. ONE JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT AT THE SAINT ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH. NOW, THAT BUILDING IS THE OLDEST ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN GREENE COUNTY. GOOD NIGHT. AND WHENEVER THE. I HEARD THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THERE ARE SIRENS GOING OFF. AND THEN I WOKE UP AND I LOOKED OUT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THAT BUILDING WHICH IS AN OLD GARAGE BARN. BUT THEN I NOTICED, OH, IT\u2019S CLOSER. FATHER FRANCIS FRAZIER SAYS THE DAMAGE WAS MAINLY IN THE PRESCHOOL BUILDING. NO ONE WAS HURT. AND THE CHURCH, HE SAID, WAS BARELY TOUCHED. SAINT ANNE\u2019S WAS FOUNDED IN 1839, AND MANY SAY IT\u2019S A STAPLE IN THE WAYNESBORO COMMUNITY, VERY CONNECTED TO THE COMMUNITY. THEY HAVE LUNCHES AND DINNERS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE STRUGGLING IN TOWN AND FUNDRAISERS, AND THEY DO A LOT OF COMMUNITY SERVICE. IT MAKES ME SAD THAT IT HAPPENED, BUT I\u2019M GLAD THAT IT WASN\u2019T ANY WORSE THAN IT WAS. AND I\u2019M GLAD THAT. IT IS ABLE TO BE SAVED AND FIXED AND WORK AGAIN. WE ARE TOLD THAT RESTORATION PROCESS WILL START TOMORROW, AND SERVICES WILL BE TEMPORARILY MOVED TO NEARBY CHURCHES. JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER THAT FIRE OF THE CHURCH, ANOTHER FIRE BROKE OUT IN WAYNESBORO. THIS TIME HERE AT BUDDY\u2019S HOTEL ALONG WEST HIGH STREET. WE\u2019RE TOLD THREE UNITS IN THE HOTEL WERE DAMAGED BY THE FLAMES. NO ONE WAS HURT HERE. THERE WERE ALSO FIRES AT THREE HOMES IN THE BOROUGH. ONCE AGAIN, ALL ALL O\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

In a release from police on Monday, five separate fires occurred in Waynesburg Borough and the surrounding areas. The fires occurred at St. Ann Church, Buddy’s Motel, and multiple residential properties in the area. Police said no injuries were reported as a result of the fires. State officials said in the release that a suspect has been taken into custody and is being interviewed. Investigators believe that all of the fires are connected. State police, alongside Waynesburg Borough police, ATF, and the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office, with the assistance of a K-9 team, are actively investigating these incidents.
