A spokesperson for the district said that the pouches have cleared through customs. Now, they’re expecting them to arrive sooner rather than later.

The district announced on Aug. 29 that its pouches were selected for a cargo inspection/examination by U.S. Customs & Border Protection. The pouches were the district’s decision to store student’s phones in to comply with Governor Kathy Hochul’s “bell-to-bell” cell phone ban.

In the meantime, before the pouches arrive, students are asked to keep their devices at home. Any internet-enabled device brought into school must be kept in a locker.
