{"id":129241,"date":"2025-09-03T08:10:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/129241\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T08:10:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:10:09","slug":"physical-sim-slot-to-be-removed-from-just-one-iphone-17-device-in-europe-new-report-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/129241\/","title":{"rendered":"Physical SIM slot to be removed from just one iPhone 17 device in Europe, new report says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday a report came out saying Apple store employees in the EU are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/apple_store_employees_in_the_eu_are_getting_esim_training_iphone_17_may_remove_physical_slot-news-69300.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">getting eSIM training<\/a> right before the company is set to unveil the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/res.php3?sSearch=iphone+17\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone 17 family<\/a>, and that has led to a lot of speculation that Apple would be removing physical SIM slots from some of the four of the family&#8217;s members.<\/p>\n<p>Today there&#8217;s a new report, this time from Greece (again inside the EU). This one claims it&#8217;s just the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/apple_iphone_17_air-13502.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone 17 Air<\/a> not having a physical slot, and it&#8217;s what the aforementioned training is all about.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1756887009_607_gsmarena_001.jpg\" alt=\"Physical SIM slot to be removed from just one iPhone 17 device in Europe, new report says\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The reason is easy to imagine &#8211; due to how thin the phone is, there just wasn&#8217;t any room left for a physical SIM slot in the iPhone 17 Air, and that&#8217;s why Apple chose not to have one and will rely on eSIM only for this model. Presumably that will happen worldwide, if this is truly Apple&#8217;s reasoning.<\/p>\n<p>That is, of course, if this report is accurate.
