While few students and a teacher were affected by the spill, the entire building was evacuated as a precaution, McKersie said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There was no immediate word of the total number of people being treated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/chopper-11am5-hi-res-still-11-20-3407.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"chopper-11am5-hi-res-still-11-20-3407.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Students from Hastings High School were evacuated after a chemical spill on Sept. 4, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                CBS News New York<\/p>\n<p>Students were seen gathering on the ball field outside the school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before students will be allowed back into the school, the affected classroom has to be made safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The school sent the following notification to parents:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dear Families,<\/p>\n<p>We want to inform you that, due to an isolated incident in a science classroom, all students at HHS and FMS have been evacuated as a precaution. Please be assured that the safety of our students is our top priority, and proper precautions are being taken.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, all students are safe.
