That signing was expected to take place on Friday, according to a White House official.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The name change \u201cconveys a stronger message of readiness and resolve,\u201d the document said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The order would authorise Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, the Defence Department and subordinate officials to use secondary titles such as \u201cSecretary of War\u201d, \u201cDepartment of War\u201d, and \u201cDeputy Secretary of War\u201d in official correspondence and public communications.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"US President Donald Trump speaks about Javelin anti-tank missiles next to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth at the White House in August.
