Yesterday, Gunn confirmed that his next Superman movie will officially arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027. <\/p>\n<p>James Gunn teases Man of Tomorrow\u2019s script status<\/p>\n<p>On Threads, Gunn confirmed that he has already completed writing the screenplay for Man of Tomorrow. However, he is now at the \u201cfun\u201d but \u201clengthy stage\u201d of rewriting. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"942\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Screenshot-2025-09-04-163317.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-625388\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, Gunn also shared a behind-the-scenes photo of John Cena from the set of Peacemaker Season 2, revealing that the HBO Max show\u2019s next installment will actually serve as a prequel to Man of Tomorrow. This also seemingly teases Cena\u2019s potential role in the upcoming Superman sequel. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"926\" height=\"786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Screenshot-2025-09-04-163332.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-625389\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Man of Tomorrow will once again be directed by Gunn, based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. It will feature the return of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/tag\/david-corenswet\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Corenswet<\/a> as Superman\/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. At the moment, it\u2019s still unclear which cast members from the first installment would also be returning for the sequel. Following the project\u2019s official announcement, rumors started circulating online about its potential cast members and plot. Recent reports suggested that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/news\/625085-superman-2-man-of-tomorrow-cast-jason-momoa-john-cena-supergirl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Momoa <\/a>might appear as Lobo, along with Milly Alcock\u2019s Supergirl. <\/p>\n<p>Superman also starred Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mar\u00eda Gabriela de Far\u00eda as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Anthony Carrigan as Metarmorpho, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and more. Since its release, the movie has received a Certified Fresh rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
