NASA\u00a0now is\u00a0targeting no earlier than 6:11 p.m. EDT, Sunday, Sept. 14, for the launch of a Northrop Grumman Cygnus XL on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The Cygnus XL spacecraft will deliver more than\u00a011,000\u00a0pounds of science, research, and supplies* to the orbital complex, including materials to produce\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/station\/research-explorer\/investigation\/?#id=8968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">semiconductor crystals<\/a>\u00a0in space and equipment to develop improvements for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/station\/research-explorer\/investigation\/?#id=8190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">cryogenic fuel tanks<\/a>. The spacecraft also will deliver a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/station\/research-explorer\/investigation\/?#id=9305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">specialized UV<\/a>\u00a0light system to prevent biofilm growth and supplies to produce\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/station\/research-explorer\/investigation\/?#id=9466\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">pharmaceutical crystals<\/a>\u00a0that could treat cancer and other diseases.NASA\u00a0is targeting\u00a0arrival\u00a0of the Cygnus XL spacecraft and its installation aboard the space station on Wednesday, Sept. 17.<\/p>\n<p>The International Space Station is a convergence of science, technology, and human innovation that enables research not possible on Earth.
