WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The public can now submit comments for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission\u2019s (NCWRC) proposed changes to hunting, fishing and game land regulations.<\/p>\n
Changes include prohibiting elk calf rehabilitation, preventing anyone with convictions for violating wildlife captivity and rehabilitation rules in the past three years from receiving a license, and requiring modifications to an animal\u2019s enclosure within 10 business days after verification.<\/p>\n
The agency is accepting comments until Sept. 15. Virtual public hearings will be held on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7. <\/p>\n
NCWRC commissioners will consider the proposed changes at their meeting on Oct. 25. If adopted, the changes will take effect as of Aug. 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
The virtual hearings on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7 will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
