Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong breaks silence on Saturday’s injury<\/a> originally appeared on The Sporting News<\/a><\/p>\n

Chicago Cubs’ centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong left Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals in the sixth inning after fouling a pitch off of his knee.<\/p>\n

Crow-Armstrong walked around for a bit and was checked on the by the Cubs’ trainer, and then finished his at-bat with a walk. However, the Cubs’ outfielder left the game after the inning.<\/p>\n

After the game, Crow-Armstrong talked with reporters about his knee injury.<\/p>\n

Crow-Armstrong Speaks on Leaving The Game<\/p>\n

After the game, Cubs’ manager Craig Counsel said Crow-Armstrong was pretty sore, but that his x-rays came back negative and he’s day-to-day at this point.<\/p>\n

“It was one of those moments where I just tried weighing options, and I’m no use really out there if I’m not moving the way I should be,” Crow-Armstrong said<\/a>. “So, I felt that our best chance was not having me move around, limply, out there today.”<\/p>\n

Crow-Armstrong is an elite centerfielder and his range and speed is what makes a difference in the outfield. The Cubs’ centerfielder and his manager decided it was better for him to leave the game after the injury.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never like fouled a ball straight off my kneecap before. I think it’s new pain. There’s definitely (expletive) that’s hurt worse, but this hurts and the legs are just funny,” Crow-Armstrong said<\/a>. “That’s kind of how I help the cause, on a daily basis, is with my legs. So, it was a good stinger for sure.”<\/p>\n

The Cubs finish their weekend series with the Nationals on Sunday and then have a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves before their next off-day on Thursday.<\/p>\n
