{"id":138680,"date":"2025-09-07T05:15:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T05:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/138680\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T05:15:05","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T05:15:05","slug":"the-daily-shows-desi-lydic-on-future-of-late-night-censorship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/138680\/","title":{"rendered":"The Daily Show&#8217;s Desi Lydic On Future Of Late Night &#038; Censorship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/desi-lydic\/\" id=\"auto-tag_desi-lydic\" data-tag=\"desi-lydic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Desi Lydic<\/a> celebrated her 10th anniversary on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-daily-show\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-daily-show\" data-tag=\"the-daily-show\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Show<\/a> Saturday by winning her second Emmy and telling reporters that for now, no one from the new leadership team at Paramount has told the show to cool it with the political humor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe haven\u2019t been asked to change anything,\u201d said Lydic to reporters after she won in the Performer in a Short Form Comedy category at the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/creative-arts-emmys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_creative-arts-emmys\" data-tag=\"creative-arts-emmys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Creative Arts Emmys<\/a>. \u201cWe aren\u2019t holding back and we don\u2019t intend to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Show comedienne was also asked to weigh in on the state of late night, especially given how The Tonight Show with Stephen Colbert will end its run next year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI sure hope\u201d there\u2019s a future for the genre, she told reporters. \u201cI think there is certainly a need for catharsis right now and for laughter. We all need it. I\u2019m hopeful that continues \u2026 We\u2019re living in challenging times, that\u2019s for sure. I feel so grateful I\u2019ve been on The Daily Show for as long as I have. I sure hope we get to keep doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThis is Lydic\u2019s first Emmy in the Performer in a Short Form category. She shared the Emmy win for Outstanding Talk Series when the Comedy Central show won in 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDuring her acceptance speech, Lydic said she watched \u201ca lot of Fox News\u201d to win Saturday.
