CHARLOTTE \u2014 Two well-known shopping centers in the Charlotte area have been targeted by smash-and-grab artists. One of the stories hit was Blue Mercury.<\/p>\n

Saturday morning there was an unfamiliar sight at the Park Road Shopping Center. Crews cleaned up following a number of doors and windows being smashed in at a variety of businesses. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely a surprise,\u201d said Jiacomo Fagan who works at Suraez Bakery. \u201cI\u2019ve worked here for 20 years. We\u2019ve had petty crimes, but nothing like this.\u201d <\/p>\n

Fagan works in the family business at the bakery. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as I know, they didn\u2019t take anything,\u201d said Fagan. <\/p>\n

The thieves left a wave of damage behind. In security footage from Dolce Lusso, you can see the suspects smashing in the glass door and going after the cash register. This took place Saturday morning. <\/p>\n

Thursday night there was a similar smash-and-grab at Ballantyne Village. Several stores and restaurants were hit. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really annoying to us,\u201d said Trung Do, the owner of Crispy Banh Mi, a Vietnamese restaurant. \u201cIt didn\u2019t help our business at all. Thank God we all have insurance and the landlord also have insurance.\u201d <\/p>\n

The front door of Do\u2019s restaurant was smashed in. <\/p>\n

Many of the businesses primarily survive on credit and debit cards, so the thieves may not have gotten much. <\/p>\n

\u201cYoung, had no clue what was going on,\u201d Fagan said. <\/p>\n

Police have not said anything about the break-ins. We are asking if they are connected.<\/p>\n
