{"id":139199,"date":"2025-09-07T10:52:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T10:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/139199\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T10:52:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T10:52:06","slug":"federal-mdas-spearhead-rollout-of-nigerias-paperless-governance-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/139199\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal MDAs spearhead rollout of Nigeria\u2019s paperless governance drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has begun the nationwide implementation of its paperless governance programme, with selected Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) now operating on the 1Government Cloud digital platform developed by Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB).\n<\/p>\n<p>The pilot rollout brings key institutions\u2014including the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy; Ministry of Solid Minerals; Ministry of Steel Development; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Federal Ministry of Justice; Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria; and the Federal Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs\u2014into Nigeria\u2019s sovereign digital framework.\n<\/p>\n<p>Programme Director of the 1Government Cloud, Wumi Oghoetuoma, explained that the system was built to modernise public service operations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe paperless governance initiative will eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks by streamlining approvals and inter-agency communication. It will significantly cut costs associated with printing, storage, and distribution of physical files, while enhancing transparency and accountability in public service delivery,\u201d Oghoetuoma said.\n<\/p>\n<p>He added that the platform strengthens security of government records through encrypted storage and supports faster decision-making. \u201cWith MDAs uniting under a single vision to improve service delivery\u2014one of the key performance indicators of the Government\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda\u2014Nigeria is laying the foundation for a seamless digital government ecosystem,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, described the rollout as a crucial step in Nigeria\u2019s digitalisation agenda. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith 1Gov, Nigeria is entering a new era of governance\u2014faster decision-making, more secure documentation, and ultimately, better services for citizens. This is about building a government that is smart, responsive, and globally competitive,\u201d Adeyanju said.\n<\/p>\n<p>A senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who preferred not to be named, said the platform was particularly significant for Nigeria\u2019s international engagements. \u201cBy adopting a sovereign system, we are strengthening diplomatic communication and enhancing our ability to respond swiftly to global matters,\u201d the official explained.\n<\/p>\n<p>The 1Government Cloud provides a suite of sovereign digital tools, including GovDrive for encrypted file management, GovMail for secure inter-agency correspondence, GovE-Sign for legally recognised electronic approvals, and GovConference for encrypted meetings.
