Early last month<\/a>, Bloomberg reported on Apple\u2019s new in-house generative AI search product \u2013 with a new \u2018Answers, Knowledge, and Information\u2019 team. Despite this team\u2019s recent formation, we might get to see the fruits of their labor much sooner than one might\u2019ve anticipated.<\/p>\n Despite all of the Apple Intelligence Siri woes, Apple still seems determined to make an impact in the generative AI space. That\u2019s why it\u2019s trying to develop a Perplexity and ChatGPT rival, which we\u2019ve previously referred to as \u2018Answers.\u2019<\/p>\n According to today\u2019s Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman<\/a>, Apple\u2019s new in-house AI search product might arrive relatively soon:<\/p>\n Apple has used this\u00a0opportunity to rebuild the assistant to create a new search product \u2014\u00a0internally dubbed\u00a0World Knowledge Answers, or WKA\u00a0\u2014\u00a0in order to compete with the likes of Perplexity and OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT. That feature is also scheduled for March as part of the new Siri,\u00a0and it may eventually make its way into the Safari browser and Spotlight search tool as well.<\/p>\n If this timeline holds up, March is actually quite an impressive launch date for a product that seemingly only begun development<\/a> a couple months ago. Gurman mentions that Apple\u2019s new \u2018answer engine\u2019 won\u2019t be in Safari or Spotlight when it first debuts, so it\u2019ll likely just be something you experience through the upcoming Siri overhaul.<\/p>\n Nonetheless, things are starting to look up quite a bit. Apple is still holding its internal \u2018bake off\u2019<\/a> to determine whether or not next-generation Siri will utilize Apple\u2019s models or one from an external provider like Google, Anthropic, or OpenAI \u2013 though this doesn\u2019t seem to be having an impact on when Apple\u2019s all-new Siri and \u2018answer engine\u2019 will launch.<\/p>\n Are you looking forward to Apple\u2019s new generative AI search product?
