\n\tDespite the United States Tennis Association\u2019s attempt to censor<\/a> the U.S. Open<\/a> audience\u2019s reaction to Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s presence at Sunday\u2019s Men\u2019s Final, the stands were filled with a passionate response.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump was met with a mix of both boos and cheers as he stepped out from the Rolex Suite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to greet the crowd gathered to watch Jannik Sinner of Italy take on Spain\u2019s Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a pool report, the stadium was around 10 percent full when Trump stepped out from his suite to wave, with no PA announcement preceding his appearance. Meanwhile, the match was delayed by around 30 minutes to accommodate long lines for the beefed-up security presence.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing a USTA memo sent to ESPN<\/a>, Sky Sports and more, ABC<\/a> appeared to mute the audience reaction to Trump, instead playing music over his appearance. The memo asked \u201call broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President\u2019s attendance in any capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after, Trump was met with a similar reaction from a more filled-out crowd as he stepped out for Sgt. Maj. Carla Loy\u2019s performance of the national anthem. As his face was displayed on the jumbotron during the \u2018Star Spangled Banner\u2019, boos broke out from the crowd before cheering again for Loy\u2019s rendition of the anthem.<\/p>\n

\n\tShown on ABC, ESPN Unlimited and other platforms of the sports giant, the dramatic battle between Carlos Alcaraz (who won the U.S. Open<\/a> title in 2022) and Jannik Sinner (who won Wimbledon two months ago) was set to start at 11 am PT\/2 pm ET.<\/p>\n

\n\tHaving won in 2024, Aryna Sabalenka remains the U.S. Open\u2019s women\u2019s champion. The Belarusian player defeated Amanda Anisimova in straight sets earlier today.
