The mid-sized city of St. George has quickly emerged as a top-flight golf destination<\/a> with Sedona-like red rocks shaping some of the West’s top golf courses.<\/p>\n

For example, Black Desert, the last course designed by Tom Weiskopf before he died, has skyrocketed to No. 1 in the state, according to Golfweek’s Best list of courses you can play. It’s in Ivins, which is essentially a suburb of St. George, just a few miles to the northwest of the burgeoning city.<\/p>\n

Also, four others near the Southern Utah city are in the top 10 the state has to offer.<\/p>\n

But, according to a report from Salt Lake City’s KUTV, vandals have made their mark on numerous courses in the area. Sunbrook, one of those on the list, was damaged this week, with the St. George police department issuing a release.<\/p>\n

“We’ve observed an unfortunate increase in vandalism at Sunbrook Golf Course, with kids riding Surrons or gas-powered motorcycles and engaging in inappropriate behavior on the course greens, causing thousands of dollars in one incident,” the release said. “Areas affected include the Black Rock 9 and the Woodbridge 9.<\/p>\n

“This past weekend, Sunbrook wasn’t alone \u2014 other St. George Golf Courses have reported similar issues.”<\/p>\n

Children have caused thousands of dollars of damage to several St. George golf courses.<\/p>\n
