\n\tMTV honored the late Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>, a musician who helped revitalize the network with The Osbournes, with an all-star tribute on Sunday night at the Video Music Awards. Aerosmith<\/a>\u2018s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Yungblud<\/a>, and Extreme\u2019s Nuno Bettencourt were among the performers who participated in a medley of Osbourne\u2019s songs, including \u201cCrazy Train,\u201d Black Sabbath\u2019s \u201cChanges,\u201d and \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home.\u201d Keyboardist Adam Wakeman, who accompanied Osbourne with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, led the homage.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe segment began with a video tribute from Osbourne\u2019s son, Jack, and grandchildren. \u201cI know for sure it would make him incredibly happy to see these great musicians carry on his legacy,\u201d Jack said. And then the family shouted a phrase Osbourne made famous in unison, \u201cLet\u2019s go crazy!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOnstage at the UBS Arena, in Elmont, New York, Yungblud then shouted, \u201cAll aboard,\u201d signaling the intro to \u201cCrazy Train,\u201d which Bettencourt nimbly handled on the guitar, right down to Randy Rhoads\u2019 classically ornamented guitar solo. At the conclusion, Wakeman took the reins on piano and played \u201cChanges,\u201d and Yungblud gave a throat-shredding performance of the single. The tribute concluded with Bettencourt playing the country-tinged intro to \u201cMama\u201d on an acoustic guitar, while Tyler and Perry emerged to bring it home with a stirring performance that featured Yungblud on vocals at the end. <\/p>\n

\n\tYungblud, Bettencourt, and Tyler were all among the artists who took part in Osbourne\u2019s\u00a0Back to the Beginning farewell concert<\/a>\u00a0just weeks before Ozzy\u2019s July 22 death; Yungblud\u00a0performed the Black Sabbath ballad \u201cChanges,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0while Bettencourt was featured in the backing band dubbed Tom Morello\u2019s All-Stars. Tyler, meanwhile, sang lead vocals of songs by Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, but no Ozzy-fronted tracks at the Birmingham gig.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tribute also marks a\u00a0now-rare reunion<\/a>\u00a0between Aerosmith\u2019s Tyler and Perry, as that band hasn\u2019t officially performed together since their farewell tour was canceled due to Tyler\u2019s vocal issues in 2023.
