Data analytics firm\u00a0Databricks<\/a> is closing a\u00a0$1 billion Series K funding round that values it at over $100 billion, up from\u00a0$62 billion\u00a0at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n

The company will use the new capital to accelerate its launch of new artificial intelligence (AI) products that help companies deploy AI apps and agents, it said in a Monday (Sept. 8) press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Databricks\u2019 AI strategy includes expanding its product called\u00a0Agent Bricks<\/a> that builds AI agents based on the user\u2019s enterprise data, launching its new\u00a0Lakebase<\/a> operational databases that are optimized for AI agents, making AI acquisitions and deepening its AI research, according to the release.<\/p>\n

The company also said in the release that its revenue run-rate has grown more than 50% year over year to reach $4 billion, with its AI products\u2019 revenue run-rate surpassing $1 billion.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur teams are putting up these results by building the data and AI infrastructure enterprises will rely on for decades,\u201d Databricks Co-founder and CEO\u00a0Ali Ghodsi<\/a> said in the release.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this new capital, we can move even faster with Agent Bricks, helping customers in every industry turn their data into production AI agents, and carry more momentum as we create the new Lakebase category, reinventing databases for AI agents,\u201d Ghodsi said.<\/p>\n

Databricks\u2019 latest funding round was co-led by\u00a0Andreessen Horowitz<\/a>,\u00a0Insight Partners<\/a>,\u00a0MGX<\/a>,\u00a0Thrive Capital<\/a> and\u00a0WCM Investment Management<\/a>, per the release.<\/p>\n

Insight Partners said in a Monday\u00a0post<\/a> on LinkedIn that it believes Ghodsi \u201chas built a generational company that is driving transformative change for its 20,000+ customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Insight\u2019s inaugural\u00a0ScaleUp:AI<\/a> conference in 2022, Ali told our audience of AI luminaries and experts that \u2018this is the very, very early days of AI being democratized in all of the software on the planet,\u2019\u201d the company said. \u201cWe are still in the early days three years later, but meaningfully further in the journey with Databricks helping shape the future of AI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Databricks said Aug. 19 that it had signed a term sheet for its Series K\u00a0round<\/a>\u00a0and expected the round to value it at over\u00a0$100 billion.<\/p>\n

Ghodsi said at the time that the company had seen \u201ctremendous investor interest\u201d because of the momentum behind its AI products, which was driven by \u201cunprecedented demand\u201d for AI apps and agents.<\/p>\n

Databricks closed its Series J\u00a0funding round<\/a> in January, saying it took in\u00a0$10 billion\u00a0in equity financing along with a\u00a0$5.25 billion\u00a0credit facility from several of the world\u2019s biggest banks.<\/p>\n
