After struggling in his latest rehab appearance on Sunday, Tylor Megill<\/a> has been shut down from throwing after he felt tightness on his secondary pitches, manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters before the Mets<\/a> and Phillies open up a pivotal four-game series in Philadelphia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The right-hander is now back in New York to get imaging done and the Mets are awaiting the results.<\/p>\n

Regardless of what the MRI shows, a return to the big-league club is getting more and more unlikely with time running out.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re running out of time, especially now with him complaining about the same thing that he went down with earlier in the year,” Mendoza said. “So, again, I don\u2019t want to speculate here, but the fact that he\u2019s getting another MRI and where we\u2019re at, like I said, it feels like we\u2019re running out of time.”<\/p>\n

Megill has been on the shelf since June 15 with a right elbow sprain and had been rehabbing between Double-A and Triple-A for the last month or so. New York was hoping the 30-year-old could make a late-season return either as a starter or an option in the bullpen.<\/p>\n

Entering Monday, the Mets have 19 games remaining in the regular season and with still no answers surrounding Megill on a re-occurring injury complaint, things don’t look promising.<\/p>\n

In better news, Mendoza did add that Jose Siri is getting close to a return from his fractured tibia.<\/p>\n
