The <a href=\"https:\/\/filmworkersforpalestine.org\/#endingcomplicity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">full list of names<\/a> currently includes 3,000-plus actors, directors, and filmmakers, including Mark Ruffalo, Ayo Edebiri, Adam McKay, Aimee Lou Wood, Cynthia Nixon, Susan Sarandon, Javier Bardem, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jonathan Glazer, Lily Gladstone,\u00a0John Early, Shaka King, and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmfcn0yns004t3b78er3f6dy5@published\" data-word-count=\"146\">Film Workers for Palestine clarified on its <a href=\"https:\/\/filmworkersforpalestine.org\/#pledgefaq\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">site<\/a> that its boycott applies to \u201ccomplicit\u201d Israeli institutions, not Israeli individuals. (According to the pledge, examples of complicity include \u201cwhitewashing or justifying genocide and apartheid, and\/or partnering with the government committing them.\u201d) The group said that multiple major film festivals in Israel continue to partner with the Israeli government. It added that \u201ca vast majority of Israeli film production and distribution companies, sales agents, cinemas and other film institutions have never endorsed the full, internationally recognized rights of the Palestinian people,\u201d though it notes that it views a \u201cfew\u201d Israeli film entities as not complicit. \u201cFor best practices, we encourage you to seek guidelines set by Palestinian civil society,\u201d a statement on the organization\u2019s FAQ page recommends. \u201cWe also encourage film workers to ask questions and do their own research about any entity they plan to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmfcmw7hi004n3b78k5lw0y90@published\" data-word-count=\"159\">The Israeli Film and TV Producers Association criticized the Film Workers for Palestine pledge as \u201cmisguided\u201d and \u201cshortsighted\u201d in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2025\/sep\/08\/film-pledge-israeli-institutions-palestinians\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a>. \u201cThe signatories of this petition are targeting the wrong people,\u201d the statement read. \u201cFor decades, we Israeli artists, storytellers, and creators have been the primary voices allowing audiences to hear and witness the complexity of the conflict, including Palestinian narratives and criticism of Israeli state policies.\u201d The statement suggested that those who added their names to the pledge are \u201cundermining their own cause\u201d and \u201cattempting to silence\u201d the Israeli producers\u2019 group. \u201cWe will not allow this,\u201d the statement said, \u201cand will push back in our efforts to end violence and bring just peace to our region for the benefit of all.\u201d Israel\u2019s air and ground campaign against Hamas began October 7, 2023, and has since killed over 60,000 Palestinians, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/how-many-palestinians-has-israels-gaza-offensive-killed-2025-03-24\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">health authorities<\/a>.
