Mader, then just in his mid-30s, to design a modestly sized modern home in the <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/tag\/studio-city\/\" id=\"auto-tag_studio-city\" data-tag=\"studio-city\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Studio City<\/a> area of <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/tag\/los-angeles\/\" id=\"auto-tag_los-angeles\" data-tag=\"los-angeles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles<\/a>, on a steep slope along a sleepy, serpentine street just off famed Mulholland Drive with epic views over a huge swathe of the San Fernando Valley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMader, a USC graduate who in 1965 became the principal architect for the Irvine Company, a prolific <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/tag\/real-estate-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_real-estate-2\" data-tag=\"real-estate-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">real estate<\/a> developer responsible for residential and retail projects across California\u2019s Orange County, completed the project in 1962. And, though it has had updates over the ensuing decades, the two-story hillside home looks today much as it did 60-odd years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-robbreport-2017-v2\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/3268Wrightwood_SC13.jpg\" alt=\"3268 Wrightwood Studio City Midcentury House William Mader\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tThough the carport has since been enclosed, the house looks much as it did when it was built in 1962.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcourtesy Crosby Doe Associates<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe 2,405-square-foot home, priced at $2.095 million, is one of 14 midcentury homes that comprise the Eureka Summit Residential Historic District, a subdivision within the Wrightwood Estates development in the foothills that rise to the south of Studio City. Vintage marketing materials touted the neighborhood\u2019s homes as light-filled and the opposite of ordinary, <a href=\"https:\/\/crosbydoe.com\/address\/3268-wrightwood-dr-studio-city-ca-91604\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">according to listings<\/a> held by Robert Moore and Veronika Sznajder, both with Crosby Doe Associates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Thomas house sits close to the street and, with minimal fenestration besides a huge bank of Mondrian-style frosted windows alongside the front door, is oriented to take advantage of its high mountainside perch. Just inside, nearly full-height walls of glass wrap around the great room, making for a truly cinematic view that stretches all the way from Universal City to the Santa Susana Mountains to Woodland Hills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBreaking up the scenic vista is the original rough-cut stone fireplace with a cantilevered raised hearth. Glass sliders in both the living and dining areas open to a deck that spans the full width of the house, while the open-plan kitchen sports grey ceramic tile counters, stainless steel cabinetry, and modern appliances.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-robbreport-2017-v2\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/3268Wrightwood_SC3.jpg\" alt=\"3268 Wrightwood Studio City Midcentury House\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tThe small entry is dressed up with a bright blue door and a Mondrian-esque bank of frosted windows.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMarc Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA full bath on the main floor means a spacious home office is easily pressed into use as a bedroom.
