Nevadans can now receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine at retail pharmacies statewide\u00a0without a prescription.<\/p>\n
The update comes in a statement from a spokesperson for the office of Governor Joe Lombardo.<\/p>\n
According to the Governor\u2019s Office, on September 5, the\u00a0Nevada Board of Pharmacy issued clarifying guidance\u00a0on a state regulation that temporarily stopped\u00a0the distribution of the updated COVID-19 vaccine at retail pharmacies statewide. The Governor\u2019s Office says with the guidance in place, Nevadans can now receive the update COVID-19 vaccine at retail pharmacies statewide, if they choose to do so.<\/p>\n
Reached for comment, CVS replied with the following statement.<\/p>\n
State pharmacy laws govern where we can currently vaccinate.\u00a0Based on FDA approval, we currently can offer COVID-19 vaccines in the following states:\u00a0AK, AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NE, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, PA, OH, OK, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, WA, WI, and WY. Prescriptions are not needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Once ACIP acts on the updated COVID-19 vaccines or states take additional action to authorize pharmacy dispensing prior to ACIP recommendations, we\u2019ll be able to offer the FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines \u2013 without a prescription \u2013 in the remaining states.\u00a0Right now, we can offer the updated COVID-19 vaccines to patients, prior to ACIP action, if they present an authorized prescriber\u2019s prescription.\u00a0Those states are AZ, DC, FL, GA, LA, ME, NC, OR, UT, VA, WV.\u00a0<\/p>\n
