Donald Trump<\/a> literally caught \u201csleeping\u201d while attending the US Open men\u2019s singles final in New York on Sunday (7 September).<\/p>\n

The 79-year-old Republican leader was spotted with his eyes closed during parts of the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, sparking speculation online that he may have nodded off.<\/p>\n

POTUS’ last US Open visit in 2015 ended with him being loudly booed at Arthur Ashe Stadium, and this year\u2019s return was not much different. Spectators reported jeering when Trump\u2019s image appeared on the big screen.<\/p>\n

Netizens can’t keep themselves calm<\/p>\n

Photos of him with his eyes closed quickly spread on social media, with many mocking him for appearing to nap.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood times at the US Open,\u201d one quipped. \u201cJust like the Pope’s funeral, Trump slept through some of the US Open,\u201d another chimed in.<\/p>\n

Many were spamming \u201cSleepy Trump\u201d on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fumes of a nation that\u2019s been festering for just 8 months. There are 40 months to go!\ud83d\ude31\u201d one frustrated fan tweeted.<\/p>\n

US Open broadcasters told not to show crowd’s reaction to Trump<\/p>\n

Bounces reported that the United States Tennis Association (USTA) sent instructions to broadcasters asking them not to air any crowd reactions to Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith respect to Broadcast Coverage, the President will be shown on the World Feed and the Ashe Court Feed during the opening anthem ceremony. We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President\u2019s attendance in any capacity, including ENG [Electronic News Gathering] coverage,\u201d the leaked email read.<\/p>\n

Notably, because of Trump’s heightened security detail, hundreds of spectators and even celebrities were reportedly stranded outside Flushing Meadows at the start of the match.<\/p>\n
