Last year, Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> went viral after stating that she was \u201chaving a hard time\u201d financially<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She said<\/a> during an episode of The View, \u201cI appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too \u2014 I work for a living! If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, OK? So, I’m a working person, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there,\u201d she added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For context, Whoopi took up cohosting The View back in 2007, with Variety<\/a> reporting almost a decade later that her contract was estimated to be between $5 and $6 million. With this in mind \u2014 and the fact that the EGOT-status<\/a> actor and producer has an estimated net worth of $20 million<\/a> \u2014 several fans were confused and outraged<\/a> by her comments about her supposed financial hardships.<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to today, and Whoopi has once again publicly discussed her finances, claiming that she cannot \u201cafford\u201d to retire from The View.<\/p>\n

When asked during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a> if she ever thinks about \u201cslowing down\u201d and \u201cenjoying\u201d her life without working, Whoopi \u2014 who is 69 \u2014 replied, \u201cYeah, but who can afford to do that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t marry well<\/a>, you gotta keep working,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Whoopi has been\u00a0married three times; she last divorced from actor Lyle Trachtenberg in 1995, just a year after they tied the knot.<\/p>\n

The Entertainment Tonight<\/a> reporter then challenged Whoopi on her comments, replying, \u201cI feel like you might be one of the people that could afford it by now.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Whoopi doubled down. \u201cNo, not by now. Not yet,\u201d she said before later adding, \u201cI gotta keep paying those bills, baby.\u201d<\/p>\n
