\n\t\t\t\t\t\tOne month after the historic flood in Wisconsin, President Donald Trump approved $29.8 million in federal disaster assistance for the August storm and flood recovery efforts. The aid comes as Milwaukee officials continue addressing the aftermath, including issuing home demolition orders in areas severely impacted by the historic rainfall. Joint damage assessments conducted by Wisconsin Emergency Management and FEMA on Aug. 21-22 revealed extensive destruction, with initial estimates showing 1,500 residential structures destroyed or sustaining major damage, totaling approximately $33.1 million. Public sector damage across six counties was estimated at $43.2 million.The flooding significantly impacted 24 Milwaukee Public Schools and forced numerous evacuations, particularly in Milwaukee’s north side neighborhoods.
