As a result, production will be delayed on the Chad Stahelski directed reboot of the cult IP until likely top of next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Michael Finch penned movie also stars Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan,\u00a0Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista and Max Zhang. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tProducers include UA\u2019s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt alongside Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski\u2019s banner 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUA secured full rights to the 1986 original, with potential to also develop a new series. Lionsgate initially developed the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe original 1986\u00a0Highlander\u00a0starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery and portrayed the climax of an ancient battle between immortal warriors that unfolded through interwoven past and present-day storylines. The movie gained a huge following during the 1980s home video era, spawning multiple sequels, a beloved TV series, and an enduring fanbase. The first movie was directed by Russell Mulcahy and produced by Peter S. Davis and William N. Panzer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCavill, is repped by WME, and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern. The actor has several movies in post such as Rawson Marshall Thurber\u2019s Voltron, Guy Ritchie\u2019s In the Grey and Netflix\u2019s Enola Holmes 3.
