Movie&#8217; Sequel Titled &#8216;The Super Mario Galaxy Movie&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIllumination and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/nintendo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nintendo_1\" data-tag=\"nintendo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nintendo<\/a> have titled the animated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/super-mario-bros\/\" id=\"auto-tag_super-mario-bros_1\" data-tag=\"super-mario-bros\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Super Mario Bros.<\/a> 2 movie as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAs earlier announced, the voice cast for the next instalment will include returning talent like Mario (Chris Pratt), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Luigi (Charlie Day), Bowser (Jack Black), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and Kamek (Kevin Michael Richardson).\u00a0Additional voice cast members will be unveiled at a later date. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic were also <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/super-mario-bros-movie-sequel-2026-1235847755\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/super-mario-bros-movie-sequel-2026-1235847755\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earlier revealed <\/a>to direct the sequel after they helmed the first Super Mario Bros Movie released 2023. The second tentpole from the Super Mario Bros. universe will be released by Universal Pictures\u00a0on April 3, 2026 in the U.S. and other world markets. The animated pic will be released\u00a0on April 24, 2026\u00a0in Japan, with select territories rolling out that month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie\u00a0is the follow-up to\u00a0The Super Mario Bros. Movie,\u00a0which earned over $1.3 billion worldwide. The original\u00a0Super Mario Bros. Movie\u00a0told the origin story of Mario (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chris-pratt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Pratt<\/a>) and his younger brother Luigi (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/charlie-day\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Day<\/a>), who began as plumbers in Brooklyn before being whisked away to the Mushroom Kingdom by way of a mysterious pipe. Keegan Michael-Key,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jack-black\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Black<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sebastian-maniscalco\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sebastian Maniscalco<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/anya-taylor-joy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a>\u00a0filled out the rest of the cast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBoth the 2023 film and\u00a0The Super Mario Galaxy Movie\u00a0are produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. Co-directors Horvath and Jelenic and their team of animators have already begun work on storyboarding scenes and developing set designs for new environments. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel.
