Humboldt
\nCounty just took a big step towards protecting our night sky! In
\nAugust, the Board of Supervisors approved the Inland Outdoor Lighting
\nOrdinance, regulating outdoor lights to limit light pollution and
\nlight trespass. This is a significant win for the dark sky movement
\nand will require new development on unincorporated land to use light
\nfixtures and bulbs that reduce light pollution.<\/p>\n

But
\nthis isn\u2019t just about seeing more stars \u2014 light pollution disrupts
\nthe natural rhythms of wildlife and humans alike. Bright lights left
\non at night can alter the timing of bird migrations, interfere with
\nseasonal flowering cycles, and affect our own sleep cycles.<\/p>\n
